Boundary Waters Outfitters

Boundary Waters Canoe Trips Kevlar Explorer Package

What’s in your pack? Join us for a journey to the bottom of a portage pack!

Portage Packs

Custom made here in Ely, Minnesota, our packs are born for trips. With all the bells and whistles of a backpacking pack, these portage packs will get you in and out in comfort – and they look cool too.

Example trip: for a group of 2 people we use 2 packs. One pack for your gear & clothes (ie. tent & underwear) and a second pack for your kitchen equipment and food (ie. stove & s’mores). Additional packs are available at no charge should you need them.

Tents

We offer several types of tents depending on the size and make-up of your group but one thing is for sure – you will have a super-light, spacious & easy to use Boundary Waters home while you are here.

Sleeping Bags and Self-Inflating Sleeping Pads

Sleeping bags: Light, comfy, and packs oh so small.  We pack all our sleeping bags in compression sacks to reduce the amount of space each bag takes in your pack.

Sleeping pads: We use full-length (L) sleeping pads in our Kevlar Explorer Package, not the short ones that leave your knees and ankles to fend for themselves. Self inflating makes things easy: just unroll, open the valve and let it fill.

Crazy Creek Canoe Chairs

It’s all about comfort. Give your back a rest…these chairs are great for lounging around camp or as a back rest while paddling.  Once we discovered these I haven’t taken a trip without one!

Kevlar Canoe

This may not be in your pack but it will get you where you’re going. Weighing in at only 42lbs. these sleek methods of transportation are sure to get you there efficiently and in style.

Kevlar Canoes… Fast, Light, Quiet and oooh so cool.
